1.4541, X6CrNiTi18-10, AISI 321 - specifications and applications
Titanium added to chrome-nickel stainless steel increases hardness, elasticity, non-magnetic characteristics, resistance to intergranular corrosion, and temperature resistance. Significant resistance to nitric acid, nitric acid salts at high concentrations and temperatures, cold salt solutions, toluene, sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, and a major share of organic acids are among its characteristics. The high impact strength maintained at low temperatures, adequate ductility of the materials, and higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion due to the titanium component in the chemical composition are all worth emphasising. Pressure vessels, liquid installations, tanks, pipelines, fittings, components of equipment and machinery in food processing, silos and tanks for the production of chemical compounds, radiators, heat exchangers, corrosion-resistant springs, parts requiring increased structural strength, and autoclaves are all examples of where it is used. Weldability is one of the steel's strongest features.
Replacement of 1.4541 grade in a heat-resistant variant, differentiated from the original by a slightly greater carbon content and a wider range of titanium and silicon concentrations. It is classified as heat-resistant steel by EN 10095 and can withstand temperatures of up to 850°C in a neutral atmosphere. The material also performs effectively at high temperatures in the presence of Hydrogen Sulphide-containing gases. It can withstand water vapour, dry chlorine, carbon dioxide and oxide, ammonia vapour, and iodoforms, and is used to make silencers, exhaust fumes, burners, aircraft components, and high-temperature tanks. Sulphur oxide, fluorine, bromine vapour, hydrogen chloride, and chloride fumes are all resistant to it.
